Why Is XC Machining a Reliable CNC Turning Partner?

XC Machining operates CNC lathes and multi-axis turning centers with live tooling, driven tooling, and bar feeding capability for lights-out production. Every CNC turning project receives DFM review within 12 hours of CAD file upload — our engineers check wall thickness, thread feasibility, bore depth-to-diameter ratios, and concentricity requirements before quoting. We hold ISO 9001:2015 certification across all turning operations.

XC Machining produces CNC turned prototypes in 3–7 business days and production runs of 100 to 10,000+ parts in 10–15 days. Upload your STEP, IGES, or SolidWorks file to receive a detailed quote with material cost, machining cost, and shipping cost broken down line by line — no hidden fees.

XCMachining is a CNC service provider that can work with a variety of materials. We can also work with you on your lead time and production needs. We provide high-quality CNC parts, and we keep our prices competitive.

How Does CNC Turning Work at XC Machining?

CNC turning is a subtractive manufacturing process where a workpiece rotates in a lathe chuck at speeds from 500 to 4,000 RPM while a stationary single-point cutting tool removes material to produce the finished geometry. The cutting tool follows G-code programmed paths generated from your CAD file to achieve dimensional accuracy within ±0.025 mm.

XC Machining performs facing, OD turning, threading (internal and external), knurling, drilling, boring, reaming, grooving, and taper turning on a single CNC setup. Automatic tool changers (ATCs) switch between 8–12 tools in under 3 seconds to minimize cycle time and maintain ±0.025 mm accuracy.

CNC Turning Frequently Asked Questions

CNC turning produces cylindrical and rotationally symmetric parts including shafts, rods, pins, bushings, pulleys, spacers, and threaded fasteners. The process creates external/internal threads, precision bores, grooves, tapers, and knurled surfaces on parts from 2 mm to 200 mm diameter in metals and plastics.

Yes. XC Machining CNC turns ABS, polycarbonate, PTFE (Teflon), Nylon 6/6, Acetal (Delrin), PEEK, polypropylene, and UHMWPE. Plastic turning requires reduced cutting speeds and sharp, positive-rake tooling to prevent heat deformation. We optimize feeds and speeds per material to maintain ±0.05 mm tolerance on plastic turned parts.

In CNC milling, the cutting tool rotates while the workpiece is clamped stationary — suited for prismatic parts with pockets, slots, and contours. In CNC turning, the workpiece rotates while the tool is stationary — suited for cylindrical parts like shafts, pins, and bushings. XC Machining offers both services.

A CNC turning center is a computer-controlled lathe with automatic tool changers (8–12 station turrets), live tooling for milling and drilling, and optional sub-spindles for back-end operations. XC Machining turning centers produce shafts, pins, bushings, threaded parts, and multi-feature components in a single setup with ±0.025 mm accuracy.
